In 2022, we introduced the new electric folding bumper.

New European legislation (ECE R58.3 Directive) requires a reinforced construction for the rear underrun protection bar on lorries. With this, the EU aims to reduce the number of road deaths and improve road safety. 

VDL Translift has developed a special folding bumper for its collection vehicles with interchangeable bodies, capable of withstanding and absorbing this high impact. 

This 850 mm electrically folding bumper is now also available as a kit for easy installation on other bodies with a demountable or swap-body system carrying an overhanging load. The kit is fully pre-assembled and painted, making it quick and easy to install using a universal and compact fitting method.
